Before you start, you are strongly encouraged to review the RAF in its entirety as the form includes links to several resources and tools that can assist with its completion.
For the best experience, we recommend you to use this guide as a companion as you work through the risk assessment form.
Section 1: Know Your Research and Section 2: Know Your Partner Organization ask a series of question about national security risks related to your research and your potential partner. If you respond “Yes” or “Unsure” to any question in Sections 1 and 2, it does not mean a research proposal will not be funded. Rather, you will provide more information in Section 3: Risk Identification about the potential risks, such as by explaining how your research intersects with the risk area or an assessment of potential impact of the risks should they occur. If you identify potential risks in your research project, you will need to propose mitigation measures and research security best practices in Section 4: Risk Mitigation Plan that you will implement throughout the duration of your project.
