About

At UBC, research thrives through openness, collaboration and global partnerships. As research security requirements continue to evolve, UBC’s Research Security team is here to help researchers navigate these changes with confidence.

Our team developed in response to the Government of Canada’s efforts to strengthen awareness of potential risks to research and help Canada’s research community safeguard knowledge, data and research results from misuse or theft.

We provide practical guidance and support to help faculty, staff and research teams understand and meet research security requirements, including federal research security guidelines and funding agency policies. Our goal is to simplify complex requirements, reduce uncertainty and support open and collaborative research wherever possible.

Working across UBC, we build awareness of research security considerations and help integrate good practices throughout the research lifecycle.
