Researchers seeking funding from a grant covered by the Policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern (STRAC) can use this tool to help determine whether they may be affiliated with, or receiving funding or in-kind support from, any Named Research Organizations.

The questionnaire was developed based on information provided by Public Safety Canada's Research Security Centre.

Prior to using this self-check questionnaire, first determine whether your grant opportunity is covered by the STRAC Policy and whether your research is aiming to advance a Sensitive Technology Research Area

Policy Self-Check

The UBC Research Security team has developed a similar self-check tool to help you determine if the grant you intend to apply to is likely to be subject to the STRAC Policy and/or the National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships. Please check the funding literature to confirm which federal research security policies apply to your funding opportunities.

The questionnaire is intended as a guide and does not constitute advice. This questionnaire is not considered as part of your grant application package and does not need to be submitted to funding organizations.

The use of this self-check is anonymous and no personally identifiable information is captured during its use.
