Before applying for federal funding, researchers should consider a few simple questions to determine if their research may be subject to federal research security policies.

Please use this self-check tool as a starting place to determine whether and which of these policies may apply to your application.

The tool is intended as a guide and does not constitute advice. Researchers are responsible for determining if the Government of Canada's research security policies apply to a grant funding opportunity by consulting the individual competition information on the applicable Tri-Agency or CFI website(s).

UBC’s Research Security team is available to provide support and resources related to these new requirements, as well as to guide you in implementing best practices to safeguard your research. Contact us anytime with your questions.

The use of this self-check is anonymous and no personally identifiable information is captured during its use.
